What is the difference between unrefined and refined shea butter?
Great question! Most commercial shea butters are refined or made from shea-esters - meaning they've been processed, stripping away many natural nutrients like vitamins, antioxidants, and reducing the amount of beneficial fatty-acids.
Why does my Tea Butter feels or smell slightly different sometimes?
Because we use pure, unrefined shea butter, some batches may have a slightly stronger natural, nutty scent than others. Depending on storage conditions, you may notice small grains when you touch your Tea Butter that melt as they warm on your skin. This is completely natural and does not affect the quality, benefits, or safety of the product. It’s simply the shea butter’s natural fatty acids re-crystallizing.
